UK Office: Alton, Hampshire
iOS Developer

Remuneration: Depending on experience

Reporting to: Adrian Herridge, Lead iOS Developer

Based: iPresent Head Office, Delta House, 7 Oriel Court, Omega Park, Alton, GU34 2YT

The Role

We are looking for a developer who possesses a passion for software and is interested in a career developing all things iOS.

A working knowledge of Swift is essential, and some knowledge of Objective-C would be advantageous, although not necessary.

Working within a team of multi-disciplined engineers, you will contribute to the creativity and dynamism that has made our product such a success and will continue to make it stronger in the future.

We have a well-established codebase which is based 65% in Objective-C and the remainder in Swift. The overlap between the two languages and all the compromises that brings about has become more of an issue recently. Thus, we have taken the decision to re-imagine the iPresent project in Swift, utilising all the modern tooling and methodologies that are now available, using standard controls and common frameworks wherever possible.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn from an existing codebase and create something new that our customers absolutely love to use.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive team. There will be plenty of opportunity to grow in your role as the company grows further and your skills develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for assisting in the development of the iOS product, adding new features and correcting faults alongside the current development team.
  • We expect code to be produced to a high standard, and every opportunity will be afforded to you to grow further as a developer including attending development conferences and training camps where applicable.
  • You will be expected to research and use appropriate frameworks to minimise development effort, keeping up to date with current trends.
  • Design methodologies are a personal choice, but we would expect consistency throughout our project. We, however, always discuss options and alternative methods so we can develop as a team in agreement.
  • Build unit tests where appropriate and provided basic testing of your code before it is received by the QA team.
  • To report your progress at the daily scrum and to discuss any problems before they become significant.

Skills and Requirements

  • You’ll love to code – you’d probably do it for fun if you weren’t paid for it.
  • You’ll have a passion for designing software that people love to use.
  • You’ll be familiar with modern source control systems such as Git.
  • You’ll have a working knowledge of the Swift programming language and at least two years’ experience developing software on the iOS platform.
